Big 12 rankings: Bottoms up in Missouri and Texas Tech's last call

Seems like we've been waiting for years on the Oklahoma v. Oklahoma State game that still isn't for a few weeks. Ah, no matter, K-State and Texas should be a dandy this week as the two fight for the Cotton Bowl's affection, and we get to see what a Gary Pinkel-less Missouri team looks like as well.

As for this week's rankings...

K-State now in full-on Klein for MVP mode

The legend has grown with increasing speed the past few weeks, and now Kansas State's athletic department marketing machine is behind promoting its quarterback through the rest of the season.

Knowing that his health has been an increasing concern as well (he leads the Big 12 in carries with 241 - 52 ahead of Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray), Wildcats fans better hope there's not some knock-off Madden curse.

Pinkel's DWI arrest the fourth for Missouri football in just over a year

The details are now out on Missouri head football coach Gary Pinkel's DWI arrest about 10 or 10:15 p.m. Wednesday night in Columbia.

Seems the 59-year old coach committed "lane and signal violations," which led to his being pulled over and eventual arrest near the Missouri Orthopedic Institute.

Based on that limited information, and that Pinkel was reportedly very cooperative with the arresting officers, eh, there's really not much to this other than it's unfortunate that the coach put himself in that situation (like so many others do without being caught). But, it is REALLY UNFORTUNATE, and pretty darn troubling to be honest, because this is now the fourth time in just over a year that a Missouri Tigers football player or coach has been in trouble for alcohol-related driving offenses.
