The short of the story's premise is that K-State athletics' online sales of merchandise is unlawfully going without charging state sales tax. K-State's response is that the department has outsourced its online business to Team Fan Shop - a company based in Jacksonville, Fla. - meaning that no Kansas sales tax is necessary because Team Fan Shop does not have a physical presence in the state.

What is real motivation over Lawrence paper's K-State Athletics audit story? Can't be the money.
Some follow-up to a curious Aug. 8 story in the Lawrence Journal-World that says Kansas State's athletics department is about to get a visit from the Kansas Department of Revenue.

Justin Tuggle came to Kansas State in search of a starting quarterback position. But, as K-State fans have come to understand, it usually takes time for a newcomer to learn and adapt his skills to how head coach Bill Snyder expects his signal callers to play.
At 6-3, 227-lbs., Tuggle has the size. Evidenced by his highlight spin move under pressure and subsequent down-the-field completion in the spring game, he has the athleticism.
